The need for meaningful climate action and a secure, affordable energy transition is more urgent and complex than at any time in the last decade. With greater multipolarity, contestation, and securitization defining the rules of engagement on the international stage, climate diplomacy is progressively impacted by tensions and transformations within the global order. Increasingly severe climate impacts, uncertain economic headwinds and volatile national politics are also driving the politicization of the energy transition and exacerbating the risk of derailment. Meanwhile, water stress, biodiversity loss, land degradation and the scramble for critical minerals are reshaping the foundations of resilience and prosperity. Without careful stewardship, these pressures risk creating new dependencies and inequalities, destabilizing supply chains and amplifying the challenges of a secure and just transition.
As these trends combine in complex and unpredictable ways, ‘business as usual’ is quickly becoming a thing of the past. From local communities to the debate chambers of international institutions and the fundamentals of business, the fabric of our societies is undergoing dramatic and irreversible change. These shifts threaten to widen divides between key stakeholders across government, the private sector, and civil society, magnifying the scale of the challenge to find collaborative pathways towards a secure and sustainable future.
This annual conference will gather senior leaders and decision-makers from the business community, multilateral organizations, government agencies, academia and NGOs. Two days of high-level keynotes, panel dialogues, networking sessions and an interactive workshop on resource resilience held under the Chatham House Rule will focus on multi-stakeholder collaboration for increased ambition, action and impact. The Climate and Energy Summit 2026 will convene in-person at Chatham House and simultaneously broadcast on our LIVE event virtual platform.
