METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.

  • Lead and manage physical LNG trading (i.e. short term, rolling front 12-18 months) team and LNG commercial operations team to achieve LNG desk qualitative and pnl targets in line with internal company rules and LNG desk strategy
  • Increase trade flow of LNG cargoes via optimization, basin swaps and tender participation in line with internal strategy and mandates
  • Work seamlessly with the internal portfolio and regas teams to identify optimization (and re-optimization) opportunities and ensure smooth cargo deliveries
  • Develop FOB-DES business cases, including taking time/voyage charters, for LNG trading purposes
  • Take ownership of the relevant list of existing LNG trading counterparties and expand MET’s LNG trading footprint
  • Lead commercial negotiation of framework and individual contracts and related documentation needed for LNG trading in partnership with internal teams (i.e. legal, credit, finance, etc.)
  • Take ownership of LNG trading team’s curve marks, and confirm such markings on daily basis
  • Support origination activities for longer-dated transactions in the Atlantic where required

Qualifications

 

  • 10-15 years of working experience in LNG trading
  • Strong network within LNG trading industry
  • Experience with FOB offtake and related chartering activities
  • Very strong understanding of the LNG value chain from upstream to downstream
  • Strong understanding of market and market player dynamics, including ability to show quantitative evaluation of physical arbitrage opportunities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, able to build relationships with counterparties and identify value
  • Efficient and decisive manager with strong analytical skills and attention for detail, with the ability to synthesize and communicate well
  • Strong numerical and quantitative skills
  • Motivated and driven individual, able to work independently and under pressure with a team
  • Ability to mentor younger members of the team
