Responsibilities

We are looking for someone to join our Global Large Corporates market team in The Netherlands as a Director.

You will be part of our EME leadership team responsible for managing and growing our EME team and our offerings with European-based global companies in multiple industrial, infrastructure, and energy intensive sectors. You will build long-term relationship with clients in these sectors as they profitably pivot their business towards decarbonised and sustainable business practices.

Your work will focus on diverse topics and assignments related to corporate sustainability journeys. Specially, you will focus on bringing clients our newest offerings aimed at deep decarbonization across Scope 1, 2, and 3. Your role with clients will be to advance complex technical and decarbonisation offerings in engineering, electricity and energy supply options, integration of new energy technologies (including renewables, storage, hydrogen, e-mobility), innovative stakeholder engagement programs, digital platforms, new financing structures and performance-based fee structure. Client engagement will be at senior and executive level.

In this role you will

  • Develop and manage a growing team working with European-based global companies;
  • Manage multiple client and prospect client accounts by:
    • Engaging with existing and potential clients to understand their key challenges and needs;
    • Defining a compelling value proposition aligned with the client’s needs;
    • Expanding client relationships by bringing in broader and innovative offerings from across Guidehouse (globally);
    • Applying technical and engineering related understanding to the client solutions.
  • Oversee successful consulting engagements by:
    • Guiding multiple and/or more complex consulting engagements;
    • Bringing in innovative ideas and using solid judgment to determine which ideas will have greatest likelihood of success;
    • Being an effective part of the local team while engaging with global teams and networks for subject matter experts;
    • Playing a key role in the design and execution of innovative solutions and application of technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Mentoring and managing local junior staff.

Our team members manage their own tasks and schedules while carrying out high quality client work. Everyone on our team must demonstrate considerable business acumen and an acute focus on maximizing client value and building relationships over time.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years professional experience, of which at least 8 is in technical professional services, strategy, or management consulting (industry experience is a plus);
  • Demonstrated account and/or solution leadership experience with corporate clients;
  • Demonstrated record of strong executive-level relationship development and management with European-based global corporations that will support business development and enable improved understanding of needs;
  • Knowledge and experience in core energy and sustainability topics, such as GHG accounting across Scope 1/2/3, abatement strategies, energy management, renewables procurement, supply chain engagement and financing carbon reductions;
  • Knowledge and experience in the following industry topics is a plus: the hydrogen economy, advanced energy technologies, renewable energy, distributed generation, electricity generation, utility regulation, power/or gas sales;
  • Proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with multiple subject matter experts providing input;
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills;
  • A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creative in problem solving;
  • A team-player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels;
  • Willingness to travel internationally where possible;
  • Ability to work fluently in English (written and spoken) (fluency in Dutch and/or German is a plus);
  • University degree with a focus on economics, business, technology, engineering, mathematics, science, or sustainability.
