Summary

This role will play a key role in developing the regional market strategy, identifying market opportunities and creative business models for collocated energy storage, other flexible and new technologies. Collaborating with the regional power marketing and development organization in support of commercial goals and objectives including pipeline development, revenue contracting, partnerships and key stakeholder management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifying and developing market opportunities for battery energy storage systems (BESS) co-located with solar pv to enhance the projects pipeline and returns.
  • Identifying and responding to opportunities for other new or flexible technologies such as hydrogen with the development teams in our active European markets.
  • Work with suppliers and other market participants to develop strategic partnership and innovative routes to market to secure bankable revenue to support collocated solar plus storage project development.
  • Liaise with structured finance, development and commercial management to create power marketing solutions that optimise funding opportunities and enable development.
  • Work with legal department, structured finance and other internal stakeholders to negotiate agreements.
  • Understand developments in the European markets and energy policy and the impact these will have on power markets, flexibility opportunities including storage and hydrogen marketing in order to keep Lightsource BP at the forefront of the market.
  • Take responsible working with the wider teams for developing and implementation of our route to market strategy to secure collocated solar plus storage revenues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, such as technical storage, finance, engineering and construction across the broader organization to manage opportunities strategically.
  • Ability to run the techno-economical hybrid model to identify the optimal revenue for each opportunity.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the European Power and Ancillary Services markets is a must along utility scale renewables experience including energy storage. Ideally with experience in Italy, Spain or UK markets.
  • Understanding of how to stack varying revenue opportunities for collocated solar plus storage in order to optimize value.
  • Successful track record of executing complex energy projects and/or transactions.
  • Strong project and process management skills with experience managing multiple teams on simultaneous projects.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Relevant experience of industry Business Development, with strong external and executive level engagement/stakeholder management.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish, Italian or other European languages aligned to our pipeline.
