Your mission

A Carbon Finance Specialist is sought to support ClimatePartner’s fast growing engagement in carbon offset project financing activities.

In close cooperation with the Project Development team at ClimatePartner, the Carbon Finance Specialist (m/f/d) is responsible for planning and implementing ClimatePartner’s carbon project finance strategies in the dynamically developing voluntary carbon markets. This requires knowledge of the global carbon markets and standards, strategic thinking, project financing and impact investment know how, as well as (carbon) fund management and fund-raising expertise. The projects to be invested in cover a variety of topics related to forest protection, afforestation/reforestation, sustainable land-use and renewable energy technologies, to name just a few.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • Further develop and manage ClimatePartner’s carbon project finance strategies and products, i.e. develop innovative financing instruments for carbon offset projects;
  • Further develop and manage ClimatePartner’s carbon project finance team;
  • Develop carbon fund product strategies for external investors and selected corporate clients, i.e. closed funds, managed accounts, etc.;
  • Fund raising for ClimatePartner’s carbon project portfolio among selected corporate clients, public donors and private investors.

Your profile

  • You have successfully completed your university degree with a background in economics or something similar;
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in project finance and in engaging with investors (public and/or private) for fund raising purposes;
  • You have experience in identifying public funding opportunities;
  • You are confident in dealing with various types of investors;
  • You are familiar with the banking and finance world in Europe;
  • You have experience in project finance (i.e. in real estate) and/or in the areas of funds, private equity, impact investing;
  • You have experience in preparing investor presentations and developing investment proposals;
  • You are action oriented with a track record in business development and a good eye for new opportunities;
  • You have excellent organization, team lead and project management skills;
  • You have excellent research skills, research experience and attention to detail;
  • You are experienced in climate, biodiversity, environmental topics and policies;
  • You are confident in using MS Office, especially MS Excel;
  • You are proactive and have very good communication skills;
  • You are well organized and work in a very structured and careful manner;
  • You have a command of German and English at native speaker level.
