The Role

As part of the continued growth and globalisation of the firm's Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) solutions, we are seeking to recruit an associate analyst to support methodology development on impact and sustainable finance products such as second party opinions on green bonds, sustainability linked bond and sustainability linked loans.

Based in Paris or London, the associate analyst development projects and lead continuous monitoring activities to make sure methodologies are aligned with relevant frameworks, trends and regulations in the wider sustainability context and are consistently aligned across the different solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Master, oversight and act as first point of reference for all methodology frameworks adopted by the different solutions.
  • Lead the continuous monitoring of the different methodology frameworks by constantly checking their relevance and alignment with the most relevant and updated ESG frameworks (SDGs, Paris agreement, etc.), reporting standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc.), regulations (SFDR, EU Taxonomy, etc.) and any other relevant upcoming initiative.
  • Analyse, synthesize, and propose solutions supporting the development or enhancement of methodology frameworks spearheading interactions and relevant communication with the relevant subject matter experts, model development teams and other pertinent stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of methodology documents that clearly reflect quantitative frameworks as well as other important rating factors, white papers reflecting new evolutions, relevance, consistency, and transparency of methodologies, as well as associated outreach.
  • Assist with ad-hoc comparative and analytical projects/tasks.
  • Become a subject matter expert regarding ESG methodologies, regulatory or market developments associated to our solutions for any knowledge support requirement across Moody’s activities.
  • Collaborate with the Research & Outreach team to contribute to research on general trends in the field of expertise that is in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor and/or Graduate level degree (Engineering/Finance) is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience relating to sustainability/ESG ideally in ESG ratings agencies, consultancy firms, research or academic.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable finance, ESG frameworks and main regulations (SDGs, GRI, SASB, TCFD, SFDR, EU Taxonomy, etc.), including market standards and practices is essential
  • Significant experience on SPOs of different asset classes, environmental and/or social impact assessment, carbon foot printing/GHG accounting, climate impact assessment is required
  • Strong quantitative skills and analytical problem solving required; ability to help resolve differing analytical viewpoints
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including the ability to effectively communicate complex, technical issues to non-expert audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to adapt to a changing environment and to manage workloads, deadlines, conflicting priorities for self and others
  • Can-do attitude, with pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Excellent proficiency of written and spoken English, with ability to analyse, synthesize and edit
  • Solid knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
