We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Programme Manager to join our Circular Economy team to lead our engagement in the development of policies and standards towards a decarbonised, sustainable and circular built environment and industry.

About ECOS:

ECOS is an international NGO with a network of members and experts advocating for environmentally friendly technical standards, policies and laws. We ensure the environmental voice is heard when they are developed and drive change by providing expertise to policymakers and industry players, leading to the implementation of strong environmental principles. ECOS is headquartered in Brussels and has an exceptional team of 24 staff supported by a network of over 50 technical experts and more than 50-member organisations.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Shape ECOS vision, position and strategy in the field of buildings & industry, with a view to promote the environmental interest in international and European policies and standards;
  • Shape, lead and represent a multi-stakeholder coalition looking at decarbonising energy-intensive industries;
  • Line management of Programme Manager(s) and lead an ambitious project involving colleagues across various teams;
  • Develop a portfolio of grants aligned with our strategic objectives;
  • Contribute to ECOS strategic planning;
  • Raise ECOS profile at national, European and international level through targeted communications activities;
  • Represent ECOS in relevant meetings, such as meetings of standardisation organisations or European institutions, UN fora, and workshops, conferences and other fora;
  • Engage and collaborate with our members, other NGOs and stakeholders.

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with NGOs, institutions, consultancies, or companies working in the environmental field;
  • An in-depth knowledge of the buildings and/or industrial policies at national, European or international level;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing & implementing strategies to achieve change, ideally by leading coalitions or campaigns;
  • Line management experience;
  • Interest in technical work and/or standardisation processes;
  • Commitment to the values, vision and mission of environmental NGOs;
  • Strong analytical skills & ability to translate technical information into digestible information;
  • Excellent time and project management skills;
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent writing, communication, networking and negotiation skills;
  • Fluent English, other languages an asset.

  • An open-ended Belgian contract with a competitive salary package €4.000- €5.160 according to the ECOS salary scale and depending on skills and relevant experience of the candidate;
