The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) is a public institution with more than 10,000 agents across the French territory. INRAE is the first European agricultural research institute and produces scientific knowledge and works for economic and social innovation in the areas of food, agriculture and environment.
FACCE-JPI is a Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food security and Climate Change (www.faccejpi.net) bringing together 24 countries that are committed to construct joint research programming in areas addressing interconnecting challenges. It aims to do that with a strong interdisciplinary research base, encompassing economic and societal aspects with a creative approach towards alignment of national research programmes. Running since 2010, FACCE-JPI operates according to a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) describing the scope of the JPI under 4 core themes as well as successive Implementation Plans.
To achieve its SRA, FACCE-JPI has already launched about 15 joint research actions, including joint calls (ERA-NETs and others) and innovative new alignment mechanisms. The FACCE-JPI Secretariat was partially financed by 2 Coordination and Support Actions from the European Commission before becoming self- financed through membership fees.
FACCE-JPI is managed by an international Secretariat partly based in Paris (INRAE), composed of four members: BBSRC-UKRI (UK), JUELICH (DE), WUR (NL) and INRAE (FR). The INRAE team is comprised of the JPI coordinator and a team of 3 other staff members. The INRAE team coordinates the implementation of the joint actions but their management is spread amongst the different Secretariat members.
The Valorisation Officer will be located in Paris, at INRAE headquarters. S/He will act under the direct responsibility of the coordinator but will work closely with the three other Secretariat members.
The Valorisation Officer will be responsible for following up the portfolio of FACCE-JPI research actions with respect to the dissemination and valorisation of key research results emerging from these actions. Results should be made meaningful and relevant to different types of stakeholders but in particular policy makers and practitioners (e.g. farmers).
