Trinomics is a leading consultancy firm dedicated to supporting the transition to a low-carbon, green and climate-resilient society. Our work includes applied economic research and policy advice, capacity building, and knowledge transfer in a wide range of climate and energy policy topics, with clients ranging from European institutions to national governments in Europe, to international clients such as bilateral and multilateral donors and international financial institutions.
As part of the expansion of our European business operations, we are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant Climate Policy to join our EU climate policy team (full-time, 36-40 hours), in one of our offices in Rotterdam, Brussels or Paris. The successful applicant will support the team in further expanding Trinomics’ project portfolio in climate & sustainable finance policy development and assessments across the following areas:
- European and international climate policies (e.g. carbon pricing, clean energy transition, LULUCF, low-carbon innovation, carbon removals, industrial decarbonisation, climate adaptation, etc.);
- Climate economics & sustainable finance (e.g. climate financing gap assessments, EU Taxonomy alignment, sustainable finance strategies, TCFD reporting, greening of financial systems).
Profile of the candidate
As Senior Consultant Climate Policy/Sustainable Finance, you have profound knowledge of and interest in relevant climate and/or sustainable finance policies and policy assessment methods across different thematic fields, strong analytical capabilities, an eye for detail, the willingness to go that extra mile if necessary, and are keen on operating in multidisciplinary & international project teams.
Required
- Completed Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental Science or a related discipline;
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional work experience, with at least 3 years of experience in a similar field (e.g. consultancy, think-tank or other (policy-) research organisation);
- Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating project teams;
- Demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of consultancy projects as well as acquisition in the required areas of expertise, and a good network of established contacts with relevant EU climate policy stakeholders;
- In-depth knowledge of relevant EU climate strategies & policies, market instruments and experience working on methods such as (EU) policy evaluations, impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses;
- Quantitative capabilities (advanced Excel skills, statistical analysis, etc.) and modelling skills are a plus;
- Ability to work, write and communicate fluently in English. The ability to work in additional languages (such as Dutch, French, Spanish or German) is considered an advantage.
