MAIN TASKS

As a direct report to the Project Directors, the Wind Consenting Director will be accountable for all aspects of consenting (including project consenting administration, discharging of consent conditions, construction monitoring and overall consent compliance) and obtaining of all rights required for the construction and operation of the offshore wind project.

In collaboration with a team of experts (and occasionally partners), the Wind Consenting Director shall:

  • Coordinate and oversee the whole consenting and land acquisition activities for the wind projects throughout development and construction phases;
  • Organise and maintain the consenting project programme and budget;
  • Lead and mentor the environmental and consents managers;
  • Management of key relevant internal and external stakeholder interests (e.g. regulators and consultees);
  • Recruit, develop and lead the consenting team, in accordance with project requirements;
  • Deliver regular reporting of project related strategic environmental and consent issues to the project teams and board.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

We are looking for somebody passionate about offshore wind.

  • Degree or Masters in relevant subject (e.g. Planning, Environmental Management);
  • 5 + years proven experience in the delivery of consents for wind projects (esp. Scottish projects), significant offshore experience would be a plus;
  • Perfect commanding of the renewable energy UK regulatory environment, including the consenting, planning and environment issues at Development Consent Order (DCO), Marine Licensing, Section 36 and Town & Country Planning levels;
  • Proficient experience in managing external consultants with associated contractual and budget responsibility and delivery of project activities to programme, cost, and specification;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and in particular, Health and Safety issues offshore including CDM (2015);
  • Postgraduate qualification in environmental science/planning (or related field of study) will be positively regarded;
  • Professional accreditation/registration with a recognised related discipline body (e.g. IEMA) will be positively regarded.

Required Knowledge:

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
  • Strong written communications and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work across cultures and in different geographies.

Other requirements:

  • People management skills particularly in view of coordinating multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to building deep connections and networks within the organization;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to travel 20%.
