Consultant, Sustainable Finance - Climate Scenarios

Job summary:

The goal of the Consultant is to support the implementation of international consultancies, the preparation of proposals and the development of new products for private and public financial institutions, from large banks and asset managers to small development finance institutions. This involves a variety of tasks including project management, research, information analysis, deliverables completion, product development, and business development, with a focus on target setting and decarbonization. You will contribute to supporting consultancies teams with medium-sized and large mandates but will also be expected to manage projects yourself.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

• Assist with or manage proposals/deliverables for the finance sector including both technical and administrative requirements, to the quality level required by South Pole’s best practice and the client’s needs.
• Ensure that assigned tasks/projects are delivered on time and within the available budget.
• Support with the development and improvement of specialised skills, tools and knowledge linked to target setting, decarbonization and net-zero for financial institutions.
• Support business development through desktop research and developing materials to be shared with possible clients and partners such as blog posts or webinars.

Requirements:

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Environmental Economics, Environmental Science, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Maths, or related disciplines.
• Relevant work experience in sustainability consulting, climate research and/or climate education.
• Ability to conduct research tasks, and analyse and summarise data.
• Ability to manage projects in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context.
• Communication and collaboration skills with clients, team members and other stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written skills in English (another language is a plus).
• Microsoft pack office, in particular, PowerPoint and excel
• Diligent, reliable and proactive.
• Prioritisation and time management skills.

Desirable

• Master’s degree, ideally in Environmental Economics, Environmental Science, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Maths, or related disciplines.
• Good working knowledge of all Google Suite applications.
• Understanding of Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), climate scenarios modelling, IPCC reports, GHG accounting and PCAF, Science-Based Targets (SBT), and portfolio decarbonization and related metrics.
