As a member of the Global Commercial Team, the Commercial Manager will be responsible to position ib vogt as a supplier of choice for green electricity to utilities/traders and commercial and industrial customers (C&I), and the key provider of services from battery storage and other future assets developed by ib vogt. The Commercial Manager will support the Team across multiple markets worldwide.

The preferred candidate has professional experience in energy procurement and a comprehensive understanding of power markets, offtake-structures, and of the project development process. The Commercial Manager will work closely with other departments of ib vogt in commercial negotiations, structuring and modelling of renewable energy business cases and analysis of term sheets and contracts for power offtakes, as well as on the development of the Team’s analytical capabilities.

Your tasks will include:

  • Work to position ib vogt as a supplier of choice for green electricity and energy storage services to utilities/traders and commercial and industrial customers (C&I) in selected markets;
  • Originate offtakers for long-term and short-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), as well as other agreements needed for the commercialisation of power from assets under development;
  • Identify, lead negotiation and close bankable long-term and short-term PPAs, as well as other commercial offtakes of power for solar and other assets under development;
  • Manage sales pipeline and customer relationship management of utilities/traders and C&I customers;
  • Coordinate with project finance, project development, project management and technical teams to ensure contracts are aligned with the project development profile (schedule, cost, risk etc.);
  • Prepare and coordinate tender processes for ibv's project pipeline with different counterparties;
  • Work on RfP processes from C&I customers for solar projects in selected focus countries and manage related processes;
  • Support internal analyses of commercial offers received as well as the development of commercial offers made to utilities/traders and industrial customers;
  • Support the definition of the overall commercial strategy of ib vogt in relation to power offtake for its portfolio of assets.

Your Profile:

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in energy procurement or sale of energy, procurement or sale of renewable energy PPAs or power offtake agreements;
  • Track record of successfully closed offtake-agreements;
  • Experience and familiarity with structured project finance and the sensitivities of equity and debt providers related to the respective terms of the PPA;
  • Strong communication skills, able to deal with business owners, regulatory bodies & financial institutions;
  • Strong commercial and proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative across multiple tasks;
  • Strong negotiating and problem solving skills;
  • Solid technical acumen for or existing knowledge of PV-technology, project development, construction, operation, maintenance and performance;
  • Intercultural competence and team-player;
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis;
  • Flexibility in working remotely;
  • Languages: English (native speaker or excellent command), additional languages welcome (especially Spanish).
