Trade Control Analyst (Gas Trading)

The Middle Office area reports to the Control & Administration Management Unit and oversees the measure and follow-up of both economic results and market risks within the international LNG and Spanish Gas business.

Among the role's responsibilities will be to work closely with several other departments, in particular Front Office, Back Office, Corporate Risk, Process Support, Accounting, and other corporate departments.

The candidate must be a dynamic person, with high analytical capabilities, have knowledge of the international LNG and Spanish Gas markets in order to be able to follow up the regular operations carried out in our business (both physical and financial transactions).

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts daily transaction exposure analysis and review including troubleshooting and investigation of Profit and Loss and Value at Risk movements;
  • Ensures accuracy of pricing data within the Risk systems on a daily and monthly basis;
  • Performs daily deal verification procedures and independent price verification at regular intervals;
  • Coordinates with the Systems team to complete new pricing requests and enhance processes and reporting tools;
  • Completes yearly audit requests and processes related to requests;
  • Works with origination, other front office groups and Middle Office NA to interpret valuations, respond to trader requests, and evaluate structured transactions;
  • Prepares daily and monthly commentary for trading and management to explain P/L movements;
  • Supports medium- and long-term projects within the group aimed at increasing efficiencies and coverage of the controls;
  • Will mentor other analysts within Middle Office;
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

​Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Engineering, Finance, or Business;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in energy commodities risk management role analyzing exposure and daily P/L;
  • Previous experience with ETRM systems (Allegro) and quantitative risk modeling tools (i.e. FEA, Lacima) is a plus;
  • Proficiency in English. Spanish language is a plus;
  • In-depth understanding of Risk Management concepts and experience with LNG and Spanish Natural Gas markets, Trucking and Green gases is a plus;
  • Experience working with and advising senior management and internal teams on transactional and portfolio risks.
