Arup is looking to recruit a Carbon and Sustainability Consultant to join its Dublin Sustainability & Climate Change team. Arup have a global role to play in tackling the climate and ecological crisis, alongside supporting adaptation efforts. The Dublin team have a growing portfolio of work across adaptation, decarbonisation, energy efficiency, circular economy and biodiversity and the environment. We are seeking a senior professional who will help to lead and grow the existing team, working with a global leader in this sector, as well as our business leaders, to develop our carbon and climate change services.

Background:

We are looking for a climate services professional to support our clients to develop pathways, frameworks and implementation plans to achieve their climate objectives. This role involves engaging with Arup’s broad portfolio of projects within the infrastructure, buildings, cities, transport, energy and water sectors in Ireland and overseas.

The ideal candidate will have some or all, of the following skills:

  • Decarbonisation: GHG emissions baseline development, assessment and reporting. Action identification across heating, electricity and transport sectors.
  • Sustainability strategy, planning and reporting, including sustainability implementation frameworks.
  • Climate legislation, research methods, concepts and regulatory changes.

Your responsibilities:

To support and grow our existing portfolio of projects we are looking to recruit a Carbon and Sustainability Consultant who will:

  • Deliver specialist consultancy services, often working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Internally engage across the groups to shape collaborative climate and sustainability service offerings for clients.
  • Contribute to the development of GHG baseline methodologies, emissions assessments and reduction strategies across energy, transport and electricity sectors.
  • Conduct opportunity assessments for clients across sustainability and carbon and contribute the development of implementation plans that result from these assessments.
  • Advise on certification approaches, TCFD reporting frameworks, science-based target methodologies.
  • Build internal capacity and contribute to the development of the carbon and climate team.
  • Prepare commercial bids and bid responses.
  • Engage in client facing work.
  • Project manage projects throughout their life cycle from inception to closure.

Current Projects/Skills and attributes needed:

  • 5+ years’ experience in decarbonisation and/or resilience strategies.
  • Masters or higher degree in a relevant degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of sustainability initiatives.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body.
