(Senior) Quantitative Pricing Analyst/Trading Analyst

The Trading Analysis & Algorithms department within the Business Unit Trading works closely with the trading desks and takes a leading role in providing market insights, (fundamental and quantitative) analysis, and ultimately commercial decision support across all commodity areas. The (Senior) Quantitative Pricing Analyst will focus on the pricing and related (market) modelling for our customer demand sourcing and structured trading activities.

Your Job

  • Continuously investigate and improve our hourly price forward curve for power and gas in collaboration with traders and respective supporting functions;
  • Establish forward looking pricing methodologies, esp. for seasonal shapes;
  • Keep track of the wholesale market developments and esp. the off-standard market, develop price views, and provide related communication and advice to traders and portfolio managers through various communication channels;
  • Optimize the pricing for B2C and B2B customers in collaboration with the Continental Power Trading Desk and other relevant stakeholders in BA Markets and cross-BAs;
  • Price origination deals and structured contracts (both for sourcing and proprietary deals), esp. for the Continental Power Trading Desk;
  • Further develop the fundamental and mathematical power markets modelling and interface with supporting functions on business-driven model development;
  • Play an active role in further developing and automating routines, procedures, and applications for pricing-related information and data;
  • Maintain an effective communication within the organisation;
  • Be part of the Trading Analysis & Algorithms department and contribute to its analysis output as well as to the commercial success of the BU Trading and the Continental Power Trading Desk in particular.

Your Profile

  • Strong academic background with a Master’s degree or higher in, e.g., business, economics, engineering, mathematics or physics;
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience in analysis, pricing or structuring for Continental European and UK power markets in a commercial or trading environment at energy companies, trading houses, banks, or hedge funds with proven track record;
  • Experience with fundamental and mathematical models for power markets, and ability to steer business-driven model development in the respective supporting functions;
  • Experience in pricing options and structured contracts;
  • Good statistical, analytical, and programming skills (ideally Python);
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken); German skills advantageous but not required;
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with various internal stakeholders and the willingness to share your knowledge;
  • Result-orientated, independent working method with high reliability and readiness to take on responsibility;
  • Proactive team player with eagerness to learn.
