Role Overview

Would you like to be part of a growing Environmental and Social (E&S) team within a global Consultancy? RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental Consultant to join its office in the vibrant city of Brighton in the UK, within Green Energy Solutions.

Although based in the UK, you would interface with clients, contractors and colleagues throughout the world, to provide technical solutions across a spectrum of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation and management of proposals and tenders, including drafting relevant sections of methodologies;
  • In your role as a Senior Environmental Expert within the project delivery team, you will travel as required to participate in site visits throughout the world to review and monitor environmental, health and safety and social documentation;
  • Contribute to various assignments including E&S Audits/Due Diligence, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Studies and Environmental and Social Monitoring activities – mainly within the project financing context;
  • Provide support for project management tasks including monitoring of budgets and schedules, liaison with clients and coordination of site visits;
  • Review documentation and permits to evaluate potential issues;
  • Establish and develop environmental stakeholder relationships.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering or similar discipline and 3-5 years’ experience (ideally acquired in a Consultancy environment);
  • In-depth understanding and application of IFC Performance standards as well as ADB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other international Lenders’ Environmental, social, health and safety standards, in the context of infrastructure and/or energy sectors;
  • Experience of working on international Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) studies and Environmental and Social (ES) Due Diligence projects internationally;
  • Experience in preparing Environmental Impacts Assessments;
  • Ability to perform Aermod air quality modelling and ability to use Windpro to undertake shadow flicker, noise and visual impact assessments;
  • Proven experience in managing resources, budget and time to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within budget;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to integrate into existing teams;
  • Good command of written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of additional languages highly beneficial;
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for project needs.
