Own, drive, and lead project development (land, grid connection, permitting, power offtake) of acquired projects to ready-to-build status, and monitor progress against approved timeline, budget and quality targets;
defining, monitoring and managing project planning processes and development milestones;
the coordination of the relevant project engineering/technical teams;
project business case optimization and risk management;
Play an active role in pre-feasibility and feasibility studies including site suitability appraisal, evaluation of suitable technologies, conceptual design and preliminary estimation of energy production;
Prepare project progress reports and presentations required for internal reporting purposes, including flagging and properly addressing key project risks and opportunities;
Develop and implement operational excellence and risk mitigation practices and processes;
Support investment/M&A activities by originating and evaluating technical and commercial elements of investment opportunities in utility-scale renewables energy assets - solar PV and onshore wind;
Monitor market dynamics and regulatory environments;
Leadership, mentoring, and guidance of junior members of the Development team.
Qualifications
Requirements
MSc in Engineering from a tier 1 academic institution, MBA is an advantage;
10+ years’ experience across the entire value chain of the renewable energy business, from development to operation, supported by strong technical know-how;
Expertise in project development including land acquisition, environmental assessment, permitting, stakeholder management, and transmission interconnection management;
Proven track record and/or exposure to renewable energy transactions is a pre-condition;
Demonstrable experience of successful project origination and progression of large-scale renewable energy projects across the various stages of development;
A good understanding of the technical, commercial, and regulatory factors applicable to asset development including interconnection, site design, regulatory requirements, supply chain, contract structures, construction, investment case development and project financing;
Excellent project management skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams;
Familiarity with EPC and IPP tendering processes;
Highly motivated, a solid hands-on work ethic, and appreciation for ‘getting things done’;
English plus Spanish and/or Italian fluency required. Any other European language is a plus.
