The Sustainability Consultant is an integral part of the World-Kinect advisory team that develops and delivers carbon reduction strategies to global and national clients. The Consultant is accountable for the development and management of decarbonization strategy proposals, and for the end-to-end implementation of client engagements. The Sustainability Consultant will lead or be a key member on project teams to ensure quality, consistency, and coherence, and provide support to ensure efficient processes and timely delivery. In addition, the role will be a part of the continued development of new offerings and solutions that can help our clients address their sustainability challenges.

Topics of engagement may include carbon reduction strategies and workshops, GHG accounting and disclosure, corporate risk and opportunity assessments, Science Based Targets (SBTs), climate change mitigation and planning, energy efficiency measures, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), renewable energy solution strategy, carbon management and insetting/offsetting, corporate strategy implementation and monitoring, etc.

Primary Responsibilities

Management

  • Plan and implement strategies for customers to ensure the most efficient and highest-quality implementation;
  • Manage and supervise consulting assignments throughout their entire project cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure;
  • Work across the global sustainability organization to help build understanding across geographies and product and service categories.

Commercial

  • Develop proposals with our commercial teams and regularly generate own leads, actively contributing to the business development activities of the company;
  • Provide guidance in the development of proposals on carbon reduction strategies and implementation of consulting projects, as well as lead their review;
  • Understand the full scope of sustainability and WFS products and services;
  • Interact and build relationships with our international and regional clients and manage the timely delivery of assignments;
  • Plan and execute training across all segments to effectively leverage the WFS client base and cross-segment opportunities: Land, Aviation and Marine;
  • Grow customer and prospect awareness of products and services, grow perception of World Kinect as thought leaders through delivery of customer-facing webinars and training, earned media, participation and speaking at conferences and industry events.

Strategy Development

  • Work with the broader global sustainability management team to review Sustainability Consulting and Services strategy across markets, regions that will meet growth and revenue goals;
  • Identify and prioritize market segments and geographies that have the greatest growth and revenue potential;
  • Develops and maintains relationships with services and consulting industry that enable us to leverage growth potential through partnerships and other cooperative alliances;
  • Identify and help to evaluate industry acquisition targets that support or are complementary to the Sustainability Consulting and Services strategy and have the potential to expand geographic reach and accelerate growth and revenue generation.

Product & Service Development

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining existing Sustainability Consulting and Service offerings to ensure they are up-to-date and competitive in the market;
  • Contribute to developing new products and services to take advantage of new business models or opportunities created by changes in regulatory, incentive or market structures;
  • Diversify strategies across different revenue models to maximize revenue potential. Potential structures could include success-based, brokerage, revenue sharing, and partnerships/finder’s fees, spread margins;
  • Maintain knowledge of Sustainability Consulting and Services markets, growth of new and emerging markets to identify new product and service opportunities.

Financial

  • Work with Sustainability management to define annual revenue goals, interim quarterly targets and key performance indicators;
  • Monitor and report on performance with respect to annual revenue goals.

Additional Responsibilities

The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively, build relationships and work closely with internal and external stakeholders including clients, third-party vendors, and peers across the World Kinect Energy Services global team. Must be comfortable and proficient in presenting and explaining sustainability products and services to senior management.

Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years of consultancy experience for corporate clients in one or more of the following areas: renewable energy, GHG accounting in line with best practice methodologies; LCA/Scope 3 emissions accounting; target setting (SBTs); disclosure (e.g. CDP, TCFD); benchmarking/materiality assessment etc. is required;
  • University degree, ideally at a Master’s level, in a sustainability-related field e.g. in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Economics, or other sustainability-related disciplines;
  • Relevant knowledge of environmental sustainability challenges in multinational companies is required;
  • Excellent understanding of renewable energy/sustainability incentive and regulatory structures;
  • Ability to analyze and take advantage of new and existing structures to drive client acquisition and revenue growth;
  • Excellent project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and proven ability to guide project teams in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context;
  • Strong technical understanding of energy systems and renewable energy technologies, and ability to assess new technologies and complementary technologies to identify new opportunities is an advantage;
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with appropriate software tools;
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills;
  • General business and financial acumen plus evidence of customer-service orientation is required;
  • Effective communications skills (written, verbal and presentation);
  • Effective team player who excels at performing in a collaborative environment;
  • Fluency in French is an advantage.
