About the opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team.

You will play a key role in managing and delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for the nuclear industry and other related sectors. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with applicable legislation in the UK and international contexts. As an EIA Consultant, you will provide expert guidance, manage complex projects, and support our clients in navigating the regulatory landscape. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the environmental impacts of projects are thoroughly assessed and appropriately mitigated, in line with UK legislation and best practices. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for various industry projects, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and sector-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies for environmental assessments that consider all relevant factors, including biodiversity, water, air quality, landscape, and cultural heritage.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to produce comprehensive EIA reports and environmental statements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and the public, to communicate environmental impacts, mitigation strategies, and the outcomes of the EIA process effectively.
  • Navigate the complex regulatory framework governing EIAs in the UK and internationally, ensuring that all projects meet legal requirements and best practices.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Stay informed about changes in environmental legislation, policy, and guidance to ensure the company remains at the forefront of industry standards.
  • Facilitate and lead technical and non-technical meetings, including public consultations and client workshops, to discuss EIA findings and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent training and experience) in environmental science, ecology, planning, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in managing and delivering Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable environmental legislation and experience ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from inception through to delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and link together ideas and people from diverse backgrounds to achieve project objectives.
