Who we are

EFCA is the voice of the consulting engineering industry in Europe, representing over 10,000 companies and 1 million staff in engineering and related services. We promote the interests of our members and the profession to the EU institutions and other European stakeholders. We also cooperate with our corresponding organisation FIDIC and other international partners to advocate for the role of consulting engineers in the global arena. Our members are involved in a wide range of projects, from infrastructure and mobility to environment and climate, that contribute to the EU's goals of green and digital transition and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Key areas of work will include:

  • Green Deal and related sustainability policy, existing and forthcoming legislation;
  • Digitalisation, including AI and data policy and forthcoming legislative proposals;
  • Reporting, transparency and related legislation such as CSRD;
  • Joint activities with FIDIC;
  • Communication including social media, bi-weekly newsletter, articles for industry publications;
  • Leading on organisation of some events and support for the annual conference and General Assembly;
  • Networking with other relevant industry associations and relevant stakeholders.

What we expect

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who meets the following requirements:

  • At least five years of experience working in EU policy and communication, preferably in a trade association, NGO, consultancy, or EU institution;
  • Knowledge of the EU legislative process and institutions, and the ability to monitor, analyse, and influence relevant policy developments;
  • Knowledge in particular of Green Deal and other policies related to the built environment, such as urban planning, digitalisation and climate adaptation;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content for various channels and formats, such as newsletters, press releases, social media, website, reports, and presentations;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and a second language, preferably French and/or German (A third language would be an advantage);
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills, and the ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team;
  • A genuine interest in and enthusiasm for the consulting engineering sector.
