Regional Environment Manager

The Role:
As a Regional Environment Manager, you'll be at the forefront of embedding sustainability across a diverse project portfolio in the South of England. Leading a team of Environment Advisors, you'll support project leaders and delivery teams to champion best practices, ensure compliance, and drive innovation in environmental management.
Our key sectors include nuclear & green energy, healthcare, science & research, data centres, defence, and rail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership – Provide expert environmental sustainability guidance across multiple construction projects;
- Team Development – Manage, mentor, and support Environmental Advisors to ensure consistent delivery of environmental requirements;
- Project Delivery – Oversee environmental performance from pre-construction through to completion;
- Technical Expertise – Primary escalation point for project environmental challenges and technical support on environmental issues to projects/advisors across the region;
- Compliance & Governance – Maintain adherence to ISO 14001/50001 and ensure governance processes are met;
- Stakeholder Engagement – Work with consent-granting bodies to secure approvals and manage regulatory processes;
- Innovation & Best Practice – Capture lessons learned, develop case studies, and enhance sustainability initiatives;
- Incident & Risk Management – Lead environmental incident investigations and provide emergency response support;
- Training & Knowledge Sharing – Deliver workshops and training to upskill teams on environmental best practices;
- Industry Representation – Represent the business in industry forums, ensuring we remain at the forefront of sustainability.
About You:
- Experience: Proven experience in managing environmental performance on construction projects, strong knowledge of ISO14001, ISO50001, and sustainability assessments (e.g. BREEAM, LEED);
- Leadership: A motivational leader with the ability to coach, inspire, and empower teams;
- Adaptability: A proactive and positive approach to change management, helping teams to adapt to evolving project needs and sustainability standards;
- Qualifications: Degree in Environmental Management/Sciences, Sustainability, or related field. Membership of a professional body such as IEMA, IES, or CIEEM is preferred;
- Flexibility – Willingness to travel to various project sites across the region.
