Your responsibilities

  • Conduct short- and mid-term fundamental analysis on European gas as well as global LNG markets to support Uniper in commercial decision making, including portfolio optimization, strategy development, origination and trading;
  • Interest and understanding of geopolitical and regulatory developments and impacts on energy markets;
  • Align mid- to long term views on European, Asian and US gas markets and derive a view on price and spread development by also considering short-term market drivers;
  • Benchmark the internal view against other available market views;
  • Openness to analysing low carbon fuel alternatives (biomethane, hydrogen, ammonia) which could compete with gas/LNG in the market;
  • Contribute to Market Analysis' regular publications and services e.g. Cross Commodity Outlook, Monthly Reports, Analysts' podcasts, daily gas market morning meeting etc.;
  • Drive forward automation of regular analysis and models (e.g. storage and flow analysis etc.) and keep data and reports up to date at highest quality with state of the art IT methods and tools;
  • Focus on further enhancement of the in-house developed Fundamental European Gas model - expand focus to ROW, integrate additional market parameters.

Your profile

  • Excellent education in the field of Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or similar;
  • Several years of relevant experience in the field of fundamental market analysis preferably covering the topics natural gas and LNG-related fields required;
  • In-depth understanding of the fundamental drivers of the global natural gas & LNG markets, like supply & demand balances, politics, cost development, as well as a deep understanding of their impact and interrelationship with other commodities;
  • Practical experience in operating and administrating fundamental and/or statistical market models desired;
  • Experience in working with databases and handling of large amounts of data required, programming skills (R, Python, VBA etc.) a must as well as strong analytical and numerical skills;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively work in an international and diverse environment; represent market analysis towards a range of stakeholders and ensure timely and transparent exchange within and beyond the Market Analysis team;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team and under time pressure, ability to be focused in changing environments and adapt to stakeholder requirements;
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) required.
