As a Power, Gas & Emissions Trader (m/f/d), you will be a key player in Mabanaft’s growing new energy business, actively contributing to our ambition of “fuelling tomorrow.” You will execute trading and optimization strategies in dynamic energy markets – with a strong focus on US power and gas – and help shape our presence in global trading. Working closely with the Head of Power, Gas & Emissions and internal stakeholders, you will combine analytical strength, market insight, and commercial drive to deliver performance in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on our trading activities and support Mabanaft’s transformation toward more sustainable energy solutions.
Your tasks in a nutshell:
- Energy Trading & Optimization: You execute Mabanaft’s trading and optimization mandates in the areas of power, gas, and emissions, contributing directly to our mission of "fuelling tomorrow."
- Market Focus: You specialize in trading and market analysis with a particular focus on US power and gas markets, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Strategy Development: You develop and refine trading and execution strategies in close collaboration with the lead trader to optimize performance and manage risk.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: You manage key interfaces with internal stakeholders such as product control, back office, and market risk reporting to ensure smooth trading operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: You work in close daily interaction with the Head of Power, Gas & Emissions and support decision-making with your market insights and execution expertise.
- Business Growth Contribution: As a core member of our fast-growing new energy business, you help shape Mabanaft’s future in sustainable energy markets.
What helps you to fulfill this role:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of trading experience in (short term or forward) gas and power markets; emissions trading know-how is a plus.
- Education: University degree in economics, natural sciences, engineering, or other related fields.
- Quantitative & Market Skills: Strong analytical mindset and quantitative skills paired with a good understanding of energy markets.
- Commercial Mindset: Strong commercial drive with a proven ability to make profitable trading decisions and contribute directly to the desk’s performance.
- Language Skills: Excellent communication skills in English language, German knowledge is beneficial.
- Flexibility: Willingness to be active in US markets from a European time zone; occasional travel to the US.
