At Eni, we are looking for an Environmental Advisor within Eni Cyprus in Nicosia, Cyprus. You will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of the Company’s HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) strategy. Your responsibilities will include preparing and monitoring HSE studies and plans to ensure successful environmental permitting for projects and operations. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the Company’s HSE Integrated Management System, with a particular focus on environmental management. Additionally, you will support the effective implementation of HSE standards across both Company and Contractor activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements.

Main responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse environmental, health and safety laws and regulations to align HSE activities with both local and international requirements;
  • Prepare, monitor the development of, and follow up on the implementation of HSE studies and plans required for permitting the Company’s projects and operations, such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Waste Management Plans and Environmental Monitoring Plans;
  • Conduct or participate in periodic HSE audits and inspections, formal incident/accident investigations, and the preparation of supporting documentation;
  • Support the Company’s HSE plans and training programs; assist in preparing estimates for HSE aspects of projects;
  • Ensure that contractors’ environmental performance and HSE activities comply with the Company’s policies and procedures, coordinating with the Project HSE Team and conducting site visits;
  • Ensure that rules, supporting procedures and work instructions on environmental management are implemented effectively and followed daily;
  • Plan and implement environmental awareness campaigns and initiatives to promote the Company’s environmental performance and energy efficiency;
  • Maintain internal communication and collaboration with staff and technical departments on HSE matters;
  • Prepare all HSE reports required by Eni Headquarters, including updates to the HSE database and any other environmental reports requested by stakeholders;
  • Analyse HSE performance and regulatory permit parameters, providing professional recommendations for continuous improvement to meet goals and objectives;
  • Serve as the point of contact for various governmental regulatory agencies regarding HSE permitting and related issues;
  • Ensure that contractors submit the necessary data on time for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual HSE statistical reports.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the environmental consultancy sector, or HSE roles within the oil & gas industry, or other HSE operational environments;
  • Knowledge of local and international codes and regulations related to HSE requirements, with a focus on environmental aspects;
  • Proficient in computer use;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to produce effective reports;
  • Ability to work in team environments and to communicate, understand and collaborate within multi-functional and multicultural settings;
  • Proven ability to lead and coach both international and national staff;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, with the ability to educate and motivate personnel to follow safety protocols;
  • Supervisory and planning skills, with the ability to identify critical paths;
  • Self-motivation and team motivation capabilities.
