As a result of significant growth, Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK is seeking an Environmental Lead to work on projects based in Inverness, Scotland, on a permanent, staff basis. Environmental experience within an Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and Civils environment is preferable although not essential. This is a hybrid role that would suit someone based in the north of Scotland that is flexible to travel to project site.

Whilst the role is nominally based at one of the Company’s offices and includes home-working, the Environmental Lead is expected to undertake visits to the business’ facilities and worksite around Inverness, Scotland to, for example, provide support, carry out assurance activities and incident investigations, provide sickness/holiday cover, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of environmental support to the Transmission and Distribution projects from pre-qualification to closure;
  • Permit management - application compilation, submission, and associated reporting;
  • Attending project location for environmental surveys and site monitoring;
  • Regulatory and stakeholder engagements;
  • Support the awareness and implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies;
  • Providing support to HSE management in Environmental investigations through the use of an appropriate Investigation methodology;
  • Maintaining Environmental Management System (EMS) compliance requirements, inclusive of undertaking audits where required;
  • Participating in industry working groups representing the Transmission and Distribution.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a technical environmental advisory role with experience in project/contracts in construction or similar industry;
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and regulations;
  • Established competence in permit management - application compilation, submission, and associated reporting;
  • Excellent technical writing skills;
  • Collating and interpreting environmental performance data;
  • Good planning and organisational skills;
  • On-site practical knowledge and experience;
  • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format;
  • BSc Environmental or associated subject;
  • IEMA;
  • CSCS;
  • Internal Auditor;
  • Environmental Incident Investigation.
