Energy Business Development Manager
RINA
Leatherhead, United Kingdom
RINA is currently recruiting for a UK Energy Business Development Manager to join its office in Leatherhead within the United Kingdom Engineering Commercial Management Division.
The Role
We’re growing our UK & Ireland Energy Business Unit and seeking a driven Business Development Manager to expand our footprint, build strong client partnerships, and win high impact projects across renewables, power transmission & distribution, hydrogen, CCUS and broader industrial energy markets. If you love developing new business, crafting winning bids, and turning strategy into measurable order intake - this is for you.
What You'll Do
- Develop and close new business in line with order intake and gross margin expectations, growing a healthy pipeline across target energy sectors;
- Engage clients and partners to understand needs and shape solutions; lead outreach at conferences, exhibitions and webinars;
- Own the bid lifecycle: coordinate cross functional teams to build bid winning technical & commercial proposals, ensure compliance with tender procedures/timelines, and negotiate in later stages;
- Identify cross selling opportunities and build strong consortia/partnerships to strengthen our competitive position;
- Track market intelligence: monitor competitor activity and industry trends; capture lessons learned from submitted tenders;
- Collaborate regionally and globally with Commercial, Business Unit and Practices & Disciplines teams to refine sales strategy and manage specific tenders;
- Use internal tools consistently, including Salesforce and timesheets, contributing to UK & Ireland commercial team activities and meetings;
- Champion client satisfaction to drive repeat business and open new markets.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); Engineering preferred, or a related discipline;
- 2–5 years’ relevant experience with a track record of exceeding sales targets (prospecting, lead generation, deal closing);
- Excellent networking & negotiation skills; comfortable engaging at all levels of a client organisation;
- Analytical thinker with the ability to assess market trends, competitor behaviour and performance metrics;
- Energy-sector familiarity (e.g., renewable power, oil & gas, CCUS, hydrogen, T&D, industrial plants, electrical infrastructure, data centres, petrochemicals, manufacturing);
- A current personal network in UK & Ireland energy markets is beneficial;
- Experience managing quotations, pre qualifications and tenders; prior Salesforce CRM exposure is an advantage.
