Program Manager

SustainCERT

About the Role

We are looking for a Program Manager to advance VCI’s mission. You will lead and facilitate key workstreams, develop high-quality technical content, and engage with a diverse community of partners and members across different industries.

Your work will turn complex discussions into actionable insights that help companies understand “how to Scope 3”, translating collective learning into real-world impact. You will work closely with the VCI team, SustainCERT experts, and our global network of members, ensuring that every session, discussion and publication advances toward credible value chain decarbonization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead VCI workstreams from design to delivery: define agendas, prepare materials, coordinate speakers, facilitate sessions, and follow up on next steps;
  • Develop technical content and research outputs, including conceptual models, frameworks, and guidance that clarify Scope 3 accounting and target-setting;
  • Translate complex stakeholder discussions and technical findings into accessible, actionable materials;
  • Act as the main point of contact for members and partners, supporting engagement and onboarding for your workstreams;
  • Monitor developments in the Scope 3 standard landscape and provide input to consultations;
  • Support VCI secretariat operations, including event coordination, program planning, and communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong moderation and facilitation skills for large, multi-stakeholder groups (especially online);
  • Understanding GHG accounting, corporate climate reporting, and/or carbon markets;
  • Rapid learners with the ability to adopt new knowledge quickly;
  • Proven ability to synthesize stakeholder input and research into high-quality outputs;
  • Excellent storytelling, communication, and project management skills;
  • Proficiency in creating professional presentations and communication materials;
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Ecology, Sustainable Development, Soil Science);
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in consulting (technical, sustainability, or strategy-related);
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting stakeholders, particularly in agriculture or apparel sectors;
  • Experience with Life Cycle Analysis (LCA);
  • Familiarity with sustainability and climate strategies in commodities such as cocoa, dairy, coffee, or cotton;
  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting standards and frameworks;
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder processes and collaborative dynamics.
