Sustainability External Engagement Lead

We are looking for a Sustainability External Engagement Lead who is collaborative, purpose‑driven and proactive to join us in our Sustainability & Corporate Affairs & Risks team, based in our Brussels office in Belgium.
About the role
You will play a central role in strengthening our impact as a responsible business and advancing our sustainability vision. You will lead strategic external engagement initiatives, coordinate the interaction of our External Sustainability Advisory Board with senior leadership, and help shape UCB’s voice and presence in global sustainability dialogues. In this role, you will work across functions, partner with senior leaders, and support initiatives that create positive impact for patients, communities and society.
Who you’ll work with
You will be working in a team that collaborates closely with Corporate Affairs, Communications, Corporate Strategy and Senior Leadership, including Executive Committee members. You will engage with external experts and partners, regional teams and external stakeholders to amplify UCB’s sustainability efforts globally.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate the interactions of UCB External Sustainability Advisory Board with senior leadership, ensuring effective meetings and timely follow-ups;
- Develop and manage the ESAB’s annual agenda in partnership with Corporate Strategy and the Head of Sustainability;
- Lead sustainability thought‑leadership initiatives and recommend key global events and partnerships that reinforce UCB’s societal impact;
- Develop content and organize impactful participation of UCB leaders at strategic events, ensuring strong internal and external visibility;
- Plan and manage budgets for sustainability‑related events and initiatives to optimize effectiveness and reach;
- Align philanthropic priorities with regional leaders, coordinate annual reporting, and support transparent communication to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

- Master’s degree in a relevant field;
- Experience building trusted relationships with external stakeholders and partners;
- Experience in public or corporate affairs is an advantage;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages across cultural and organizational contexts;
- Ability to plan, organize and drive multi‑stakeholder dialogue with diverse internal and external audiences;
- A resilient, self‑motivated approach, with the ability to challenge constructively and contribute fresh perspectives.
