The Sustainability Sensing Lead plays a key role in strengthening Bridgestone’s ability to anticipate regulatory developments, interpret their implications, and support responsible functions in defining appropriate compliance responses. Beyond risk mitigation, the role promotes strategic thinking to identify commercial and operational opportunities created by regulatory change.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability Sensing & Portfolio Management, the Sustainability Sensing Lead monitors emerging and existing sustainability regulations, coordinates cross‑functional impact assessments, and contributes to the activation and execution of sustainability‑related projects.

Responsibilities

Regulatory Sensing & Monitoring

  • Monitor emerging and existing EU and national sustainability regulations, including national transpositions
  • Collaborate with Legal, Public Affairs, and expert functions to analyse regulatory requirements and interdependencies
  • Track sustainability positions and trends of competitors, customers, industry associations, and NGOs
  • Translate regulatory and market signals into clear insights on implications for Bridgestone and its customers
  • Deliver regular sensing reports and briefings to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Design and implement processes for regulatory sensing, impact assessment, and compliance management
  • Translate regulatory sensing outputs into operational procedures for the Sustainability Office

Impact Assessment & Strategic Value Capture

  • Lead cross‑functional assessments of regulatory changes to evaluate business impact, risks, and opportunities
  • Promote strategic thinking that converts compliance requirements into competitive advantage
  • Identify opportunities for value creation such as new services, improved financing conditions, enhanced brand positioning, and operational efficiencie

Contribution to Project Execution

  • Contribute to the activation of sustainability‑related projects by defining project charters, governance, and schedules
  • Participate in project teams to support execution in collaboration with relevant internal functions
  • Work with Government Affairs to define Bridgestone advocacy positions aimed at influencing regulatory outcomes relevant to the tire industry

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Education

  • University degree in Engineering, Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of EU institutions and regulatory processes
  • Ability to engage on technical regulatory topics while maintaining a business‑oriented perspective
  • Excellent communication, active listening, teamwork, and presentation skills
  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory topics for diverse audiences
  • Strategic mindset with proven business acumen
  • Fluent in English

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in regulatory monitoring, impact assessment, and related digital tools
  • Project management skills and process‑oriented mindset (PDCA)
  • Experience in the tire or automotive industry
  • Knowledge of supply chain due diligence requirements
