Our Power and Low Carbon Solutions practice is looking for a person with up to 2 years of relevant experience to join the team in Sofia.
Baringa’s market leading Power & Low Carbon Solutions (PLCS) practice works with clients across the energy value chain—utilities, independent power producers, developers, network companies, commodity traders, industrials, investors, policymakers and regulators. We combine deep market, technical, commercial and regulatory expertise to help clients develop projects, deploy capital, and optimize value across the energy transition, including renewables, storage, clean molecules and low carbon infrastructure.
What you will be doing
Market & strategy support: Contribute to market assessments on Iberian wholesale power, emerging technologies (e.g., renewables, storage, PtX/clean molecules) and business models to inform corporate or investment strategies.
Quantitative analysis & modelling: Build and maintain datasets and simple models to assess market fundamentals, asset revenues and commercial performance (e.g., renewables and flexible resources such as batteries, pumped storage and demand response).
Transaction support: Assist in buy and sell-side commercial due diligence for renewables, storage and early stage low carbon assets, helping evaluate value drivers, risks and routes to market
Tenders & auctions: Support teams in structuring and pricing bids for competitive government tenders/auctions.
Client deliverables: Create clear, well structured slides, memos and dashboards that turn analysis into practical recommendations for clients.
Your skills and experience
A well-rounded candidate should demonstrate a balance of strengths across these key areas:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or related field.
Experience: Internships or up to 2 years’ experience in energy, consulting, finance, data analytics or a related area.
Analytical skills: Strong problem solving and quantitative capability; proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint; familiarity with Python/R/SQL/Power BI is a plus.
Energy market interest: Understanding (or strong motivation to learn) the fundamentals of South East European wholesale electricity markets, market design, regulation and commercial structures. Knowledge of Romanian, Hungarian or Greek energy markets will be considered a strong advantage
Domain exposure: Interest or initial experience in valuation of renewables and storage, routes to market, and flexible resources (batteries, pumped storage, DSR).
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, able to translate analysis into concise narratives and slides for clients.
Ways of working: Organized, proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in small, blended teams.
Language: Excellent verbal and written English language
