Energy Data Portfolio Analyst

TotalEnergies

Athens, Greece

Activities

This position operates within a continuously evolving European energy market and requires close coordination with multiple teams and geographies. It contributes to the company’s strategic objectives by supporting data‑driven decision‑making and operational reliability.

The team is responsible for continuously gathering data from multiple sources, performing systematic comparisons, validation, and cleaning to ensure a single, reliable, and flexible access point to high‑quality data. This validated data is then shared internally.

As an Energy Data Portfolio Analyst, within the Trading Support Department, you will work closely with the Energy Data Management team members located in Geneva, with strong focus on renewable power and flexible power assets.

Over the past years, the team has automated most of its processes using Python, PowerQuery, Power BI and Databricks. The operational tasks of the EDM team involve:

  • Collecting volumetric power data from multiple external and internal sources and retrieving any missing volumes.
  • Ensuring data consistency by comparing current data with historical records and other sources but also by building some coherence checks to identify anomalies.
  • Injecting validated data into the internal database and producing key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting to ensure data quality.

Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and executing these operational tasks, as well as developing new controls to improve data reliability, and new reporting to ensure checks are properly done. This position offers the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the European energy market structure and collaborate with several internal teams. You will actively support the migration to next-generation tools and platforms.

Candidate Profile

  • Educational standard required: Engineering or Finance background preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Power markets with data analysis exposure.
  • Solid programming skills: Python experience required, proficiency in Excel, knowledge in PowerQuery, PowerBI, and Databricks is an asset.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
