Saft's Energy Storage Systems division is recruiting its Project Manager. This position is a key role in positioning Saft as a leader in the sector, ensuring customer satisfaction through the continuous monitoring of their installations and through the fulfilment of our commitments on component warranties and project performance guarantees.

A Project Manager is responsible for an end-to-end management of the project he/she is in charge. His/her responsibility starts from the proposal up to serial life management.

His/her direct manager is the EMEA Operations Manager.

Your missions

Coordinate internally project activities:

  • Estimate Schedule and Cost of the project (Product Cost and NRC);
  • Needs analysis with estimated schedule to set scope and targets to teams (engineering, procurement, quality, product);
  • Organize Kick-Offs, progress meetings to ensure information flows and coordination of the teams;
  • Planning updated and communicated to the team once a month to ensure tasks are rescheduled if needed;
  • Strong focus on progress follow-up during commissioning, and pragmatic approach to blocking points resolution with technical team support. Development of mitigation plans to recover schedule when needed.

Manage project team, subcontractors, partners and Client:

  • Initiate and populate tools for effective management: planning, risk, actions, procurement, budget;
  • Allocate roles and responsibilities to the project team, record actions and ensure they are executed within the project timeline;
  • Set RASI matrix for interface scopes;
  • Prepare scope of work and set to Subcontractors contractual commitments in line with Saft's contractual obligations;
  • Close follow up on Subcontractors commitments to ensure project targets are met;
  • Contract Management with support of Portfolio Manager;
  • Sourcing identification and shared with procurement/sourcing for follow up with special focus on field requirements (HSE, tools, spares, logistics);
  • Ensure transition to O&M;
  • Manage Issues and escalate to Management when necessary.

Ensure that the project is completed within the assigned budget objectives (margin):

  • Preparation of the as sold budget (cost sheet) following contract award;
  • Confirm as sold budget by challenging hypothesis and confirm compliance to contract requirement. If necessary, propose a budget zero with a new target margin;
  • Schedule expenses to confirm the cash flow;
  • Close follow-up on project expenditures and update the estimate at completion monthly to analyze actual budget variance;
  • Put in place mitigation measures to remain in the budget zero;
  • Challenge Engineering manhours to remain in the agreed dedicated budget by forecasting requirements;
  • Supports invoicing in due times, once milestone is met, and cash collection as per the contractual payment terms.

Ensure efficient communication:

  • Identify key stakeholders, understand their needs and expectations;
  • Organize regular meetings with Client (and key stakeholders) to ensure engagement;
  • Establish communication channels to ensure the information is recorded and available;
  • Provide project information to Project Team (project status, planning update, risks update, contractual change, liquidated damages) so that shared goals can be achieved (deliverables to be issued, issue deadline...);
  • Organize interfaces meeting with the Project Team: partners, subcontractors, Administration. Issue minute of meeting and set actions and responsibilities with target dates;
  • Communicate to the Client Project progress;
  • Ensure conflict resolution to focus on project targets.

Create and update regularly accurate risk register:

  • Set up the risk register through risk identifications with individuals/team within the month after contract award;
  • Assess the identified risks and proposed mitigation plans to minimize them;
  • Update the risk provision, accordingly, compare provision to the project budget risk allocation, and put in place additional measures to remain within the project budget;
  • Populate the REX tools to record good practice and actions to avoid/mitigate risks.

Candidate Profile

Desired profile:

  • Master’s degree in electrical or Electrotechnical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Fully fluent in English;
  • Fluent in German;
  • 10 years + of project/program, business or financial management;
  • Knowledge of EPC contract. Knowledge of renewables business is a plus.
