As Senior Asset/Portfolio Manager, you take full ownership of a portfolio of renewable energy assets (Solar/Wind/BESS) across Europe, ensuring optimal performance as well as long-term value creation from an asset owner perspective.

You act as the functional lead for your portfolio, steering all relevant internal and external stakeholders and ensuring alignment across technical, commercial, and financial functions. In this role, you will represent the shareholder perspective at SPV level, including the assumption of managing director mandates within your portfolio.

You work in close partnership with our subsidiary Stern Energy, which is responsible for the daily operational and technical management of the assets, and collaborate closely with the internal Technical Asset Management function.

Your sunny outlook:

Portfolio Leadership & Governance:

  • Take full responsibility for the performance and value creation of a portfolio of renewable energy assets;
  • Act as the functional lead for your portfolio, steering and aligning all relevant internal departments and external stakeholders;
  • Assume managing director mandates in asset-level entities (SPVs), representing shareholder interests and ensuring proper governance;
  • Ensure full alignment between commercial, technical, financial, and regulatory requirements across all assets.

Steering of Operations & Technical Management:

  • Act as the central interface between Stern Energy as the operational and technical service provider;
  • Ensure effective steering and performance oversight of operational activities in close coordination with Stern Energy;
  • Work closely with the internal Technical Asset Management team to align on technical strategies, performance topics, and optimisation initiatives;
  • Drive performance improvements by setting priorities, challenging outcomes, and ensuring consistent execution across the portfolio.

Financial & Commercial Management:

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, and variance analysis at asset and portfolio level;
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure delivery of business plan targets;
  • Review financial reporting, audits, and SPV structures, ensuring compliance with financing agreements;
  • Support refinancing, restructuring, and transaction processes where required.

Contract & Risk Management:

  • Oversee and optimise key contracts (e.g. O&M, PPA, EPC, leases, insurance);
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and HSE requirements;
  • Identify, assess, and actively manage risks across the portfolio.

Stakeholder & Investor Management:

  • Act as primary point of contact for investors, lenders, and key partners;
  • Ensure high-quality reporting and transparent communication;
  • Present portfolio performance, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Functional Topic Ownership (Division-wide):

  • Take functional ownership of key strategic topics (e.g. project financing, route-to-market/power sales, contract standards) across the Asset Management division;
  • Further develop standards, tools, and best practices in close collaboration with internal departments (Finance, Energy Markets, Legal, Technical);
  • Act as internal expert and sparring partner for these topics.

Projects & Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive strategic and cross-functional initiatives (e.g. optimisation programmes, repowering, digitalisation, process standardisation);
  • Contribute to the continuous development of governance structures, processes, and tools within Asset Management.

  • Academic Background: You hold a degree in business administration, economics, industrial engineering or a comparable field with a strong financial or technical focus;
  • Relevant Professional Experience: You bring at least 5-8+ years of experience in asset management, portfolio management or project finance within renewable energy or infrastructure;
  • Financial & Asset Expertise: You have strong expertise in financial modelling, P&L and cash flow management, renewable asset economics and lifecycle optimization;
  • Contract & Financing Knowledge: You are experienced in contract structures (e.g. PPAs, O&M agreements) as well as project financing frameworks, including financing agreements and transaction processes;
  • Stakeholder & Leadership Skills: You are able to lead complex stakeholder landscapes without formal authority, align different interests and drive decisions across functions;
  • Structured & Entrepreneurial Mindset: You combine a structured, solution-oriented working style with an entrepreneurial mindset focused on performance and value creation;
  • Communication & International Exposure: You communicate confidently in English; German or additional languages are a plus (especially French and Dutch), and you operate effectively in an international environment.
