THE ROLE

Your role as a Trading Operations Specialist requires that you thrive when you have to coordinate, prioritize and execute on a variety of complex tasks as you will work between trading and the rest of the organization to optimize our daily operational work and implement new products and markets.

Market and system knowledge, training and educating across the team, improving procedures to minimize risk and increase efficiency, coordinate with project stakeholders will amongst others be your tasks and eventually your areas of expertise. This will be balanced against the daily procedures and problem solving with our traders.

Moreover, the role will require shift work, since the team is also responsible of balancing gas positions for British Gas Trading in the UK gas market. The work related to the shift will consist of analyzing the UK and European gas market in order to make the best and most optimal balancing (trading) decisions in the market. You will therefore need have an analytic and structured approach to new market information and are motivated by having to react quickly to sudden changes in the market conditions. The shifts are structured in 5 weeks shift rotations having 1 week with day shifts, 1 week with evening shifts and every 5th weekend (Our Singapore office will cover night shifts).

The competences you bring to the team should include a good sense for logic, numbers, and the ability to acquire new knowledge and having a proactive mindset. You believe that continuous improvement of yourself is the key for your success. You have a strong ability to stay calm under pressure, and you are keen to be the best in everything you do. You are persistent in pursuing progress, and aware of when and how to nudge colleagues and stakeholders to ensure your deliverables.

Your Background & The Requirements

  • You hold a relevant MSc degree (Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar);
  • You can cooperate & communicate on all levels;
  • You speak and write English fluently;
  • You have experience in being able to work on and lead multiple projects in a self-motivated, flexible and autonomous manner;
  • You can link your personal and professional skills with these requirements and will add that together with your CV in your motivation letter.

  • You know of, or is keen to understand the dynamics of trading, and the energy markets;
  • You can balance your focus and day-to-day tasks, while progressing on long-term deliveries;
