The Job

As Energy Manager, you are responsible for contracting & managing Energy Suppliers for the supply of green energy for all countries where Milence has operations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Actively manage Energy Suppliers to facilitate the expansion of the Milence Network;
  • Establishing the appropriate SLA’s & regularly reviewing performance against SLA’s;
  • Manage process to provide energy suppliers with forecast of demand on regular basis;
  • Procure Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) and other similar (local) instruments;
  • Manage and trade Renewable Energy Units within the different schedules and countries in Europe;
  • Contracting & Managing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with local parties to supplement agreements with grid operators;
  • Monitoring of electricity margins in order to minimise cost of energy over time;
  • Ensuring reliable and sustainable supply of green energy on all Milence locations, against the lowest possible cost;
  • Negotiating, contracting and managing of all energy suppliers;
  • Ensuring smooth expansion of the Milence network through ensure contracts are in place in new countries where Milence plans to be present, aligned with the internal Network team;
  • Procuring green certificates to ensure that Milence’s supply of energy is sustainable;
  • Support the Network and Technology teams in complex site projects when Milence has the opportunity to build a charging hub in cooperation with Renewable Energy Production, Energy Storage, Grid Capacity sharing or other similar situations;
  • Work with the Network team in the expansion of the Milence charging network, by identifying local parties to partner with through establishing Private Purchase Agreements, in order to supplement agreements with energy suppliers. Stakeholders could include solar & wind park companies;
  • Build the capabilities of Milence to monitor electricity margins, through collaboration with the digital factory & data teams. Ensure the appropriate analytics reports & dashboards are in place to ensure the optimum supply of energy to our charging hubs at the lowest possible cost;
  • Slowly build & lead a small team including hiring, on-boarding, coaching, managing performance, drive competency development and develop a collaborative culture within the Milence organisation;
  • As member of the Commercial management team, taking ownership of own domain and also the cooperation & collaboration across the teams in Reliability, Network & Procurement departments to deliver according to plans;
  • Build forecasting capabilities to predict energy consumption across the network, on a hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Work closely with the digital factory & data teams to build this capability, potentially by acquiring specific software.

Job requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in relevant field such as Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, etc.;
  • 5+ years of technical program or product management, technical development or related technical roles in EV charging solutions sector;
  • Experience in procurement, trading, selling of electricity;
  • Proficiency in tools/systems to analyse data;
  • Experience in writing documents on technical requirements for new products, process requirements and/or design validation plans;
  • Strong communication skills in English, with one or two additional European language(s) preferred (such as German or French);
  • You are able to use your excellent written & verbal communication, negotiation & influencing skills to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders, in order to achieve results on time and with most favourable commercial outcomes for Milence;
  • You are able to see problems before they arise and your positive attitude helps you see opportunities, solve problems & find solutions;
  • Proven track record in managing DSO’s (Electric Distribution Service Operators) or similar types of customers against a set of pre-agreed criteria;
  • The cost of energy will be crucial for the financial success of Milence. You are comfortable creating financial analyses and forecasts to support budgeting, pricing and commercial discussions within the company;
  • You are able to take a structured & methodical approach to ensure that the work of the department is clear, milestones and deliverables are clearly defined and efficient & effective ways of working are established;
  • Ability to make quick decisions with calculated risk, in situations of uncertainty;
  • Give skilful & productive feedback on a regular basis to improve team performance & confidence. Proven people management competency, strong in building and maintaining relationships at all levels in an organisation, variety of influencing skills, drive together for results;
  • Comfortable in dealing with organizational and market eco-system ambiguity.
