Cosmetics Europe, the Brussels based European trade association of the cosmetic and personal care industry, has an immediate opening for a: SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER.
Main responsibilities:
The Sustainability Manager will work on sustainability and environmental sciences projects relevant for the cosmetics industry.
- Main tasks will include:
- Manage industry voluntary actions in the field of environmental sustainability (e.g., greenhouse gases, packaging/recycling, nature protection related to biodiversity and water), implement and communicate on such actions within the national network of Cosmetics Europe as well as with relevant stakeholders;
- Within Cosmetics Europe working groups and on behalf of Cosmetics Europe, support various industry and multi-stakeholder research projects in the field of environmental hazard and risk assessments of cosmetic ingredients and products (e.g. covering exposure, fate and ecotoxicology); and
- Participate on behalf of Cosmetics Europe in industry initiatives on e.g., life cycle assessments (LCA), foot printing mechanisms, carbon standards, biodiversity or ecosystems assessments.
- The Sustainability Manager reports to the Deputy Director General and works closely with Project Lead(s) & the members of the Science and Public Affairs/Communications Teams.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Relevant Master and/or work experience in environmental sustainability and/or environmental sciences;
- Interest in the EU and global policy environments regarding environmental sustainability and environmental sciences;
- Excellent organisational, communicating and project management skills; sound experience in scientific project management is a plus;
- 2-3 years’ experience after graduation;
- Ability to work in a proactive and autonomous way as well as in a team;
- Excellent ability in written and spoken English;
- Full knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
