ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Advisory Services, the Senior Sustainability Analyst will provide inhouse technical expertise for the delivery of advisory services addressing innovative approaches and corporate sustainability strategies in carbon and broader sustainability markets, as well as in the context of reporting frameworks. This position is ideally based in a SustainCERT office, either Luxembourg or Amsterdam.

Applicants looking to work remotely from Europe or the United States of America will also be considered. Applicants must be authorized to work in one of the aforementioned countries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Lead advisory and innovation efforts in support of SustainCERT’s ambitious carbon markets and corporate value chain solution targets, related to:
    • GHG impact tracking and accounting
    • Impact and claims verification
    • Digital monitoring, reporting, and verification
    • Innovative carbon market solutions
  • Conduct a variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses to support the development of customized client sustainability solutions, e.g. corporate and/or product environmental footprinting; qualitative analyses such as materiality assessments or gap analysis and others.
  • Develop and/or review quantification approaches that account for GHGs emissions reductions or removals in projects.
  • Support clients in understanding content from cutting-edge deliverables and making it percolate in organizations to support key decision-making.
  • Contribute to the management of relationships with clients throughout the delivery process.
  • Manage improvements and new features for existing offerings.
  • Support the Value Chain Initiative and other strategic initiatives.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the business line.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in a relevant field
  • Expert knowledge in environmental markets (voluntary carbon markets) and/or climate change reporting methodologies and frameworks (ISO, GHG Protocol, SBTi NetZero, CDP Carbon & Water, etc.) and sustainability data in general (emission factor, ESG databases, etc).
  • Experience in sustainability audits with statutory auditors
  • Experience in using a GHG reporting software
  • Proven ability to think outside the box to support clients and to propose solutions to technical and strategic issues
  • Ability to deliver nuanced analysis to help guide partners in a highly dynamic context
  • Experience in client-facing roles ideally in the sustainability sector
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Service-oriented and a strong team player
  • Proven working experience regarding organisational and time-management skills, accurate attention to detail; ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills in EnglishLess senior candidates (minimum 5 years of professional experience) may be considered for a sustainability analyst position.
