RINA is currently recruiting for a Renewables Senior Consultant - Solar / PV to join its office in Brighton within the Green Energy Solutions Division.

Job Overview

The Solar PV Performance Senior Consultant will deliver all aspects of solar resource and solar energy assessment services across our global consultancy business in addition to being a lead on module technology and research. This will include working on pre-construction and operational assets for major clients such as International Finance Institutions and major developers and investors and ensuring RINA’s technical module knowledge is industry leading. In addition, you will take a lead role in maintaining RINA’s position as industry leading solar technical consultants through continuous technical knowledge building relating to solar PV modules and be the principle contact within RINA for solar PV module technical review, technology developments and industry leading research.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertaking pre-construction solar PV resource and energy yield analyses including detailed review of irradiation data, PV system and loss / uncertainty analysis
  • Leading the development, implementation and management of data collection systems
  • Improving and validating RINA’s technical analysis approaches
  • Detailed analysis of operational SCADA data, interpretation of data streams, assessment of performance trends over time and recommendation of performance optimisation techniques
  • Project Management and Quality Assurance
  • Client & Customer management, business development
  • Leading others and developing and mentoring of graduates and Consultants

Experience Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering / Physics / Maths / Meteorology (or relevant technical degree) with a strong interest in renewable energy
  • Proven experience demonstrating a strong understanding of leading solar PV technology with 4 years industry experience
  • Strong track record in solar PV energy resource analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working experience delivering analyses with PVsyst
  • Experience with one or more of: NREL Radiance, SAM, Plant Predict, PVLib
  • Experience in operational performance analysis or optimisation of solar assets
  • Track record of analysis and processing of albedo data
  • Appreciation of the economics of solar energy development
  • Practical knowledge of how solar assess are developed, constructed and operated
  • Fluency in English with excellent report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Project management experience and capability to lead a project team
  • Knowledge of statistical methods to evaluate data and uncertainty

Desirable:

  • Experience in solar PV module technology research or manufacturing
  • Programming skills such as VBA, Python, R
  • Cross disciplinary analysis skills (i.e. wind, storage)
