Local Unit & Position Description

You will be involved in the acquisition, execution, delivery and management of projects as well as building and maintaining client relationships. The primary market is UK & Ireland, but the successful candidate is encouraged to actively collaborate with other regions to (1) develop and deliver opportunities further afield and (2) engage overseas DNV experts to support the delivery of UK&I projects.

The role will help DNV deliver on its purpose to safeguard life, property and the environment and achieve our company vision: To be a trusted voice to tackle global transformations.

ROLE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Consultant/Senior/Principal in ESA your responsibilities will encompass two main types of activities, with your level of responsibility and leadership scaling at the senior grades:

Consultancy:

• Take a leading role as an expert on the changing role of energy networks in delivering the energy transition.
• Advise our clients in our projects about network operation, transformation, strategy and regulation.
• Take a role as project manager for client engagements.
• Undertake quantitative and qualitative analyses for the projects you are working on.
• Train and coach junior consultants in these projects.
• Lead workshops; support our customers to define their decarbonisation strategy.
• Develop new services based on our customer needs.
• Write high quality reports and presentations to a publishable standard for our customers.
• Work together with colleagues and experts both within and outside our region.
• Have knowledge about relevant national legislation, regulations and industry guidelines.

Business development:

• Prepare and costing high quality proposals addressing the needs of our customers.
• Winning new projects to grow our business.
• Grow your own network to connect with potential clients.
• Build strong relationships with existing and new customers.
• Represent DNV at events to showcase our services and capabilities.
• Identify market opportunities and develop our services based on these market needs.
• Organize customer meetings and workshops.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify you must have:

• An Academic degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English. Other languages will be considered a plus.
• Chartered status (or working towards) in a relevant discipline.

Relevant competencies, skills and personal attributes may include some of the following:

• Knowledge of natural gas chemistry and composition.
• Understanding of biomethane production methods, upgrade and technology options.
• Familiarity with gas properties, including thermochemistry and thermophysical processes.
• Analytical chemistry experience (related to natural gas, biomethane and hydrogen).
• An understanding of low-carbon options for energy supply and use (especially biomethane and hydrogen).
• Software skills and knowledge of thermochemical calculations.
• Good communication (written and spoken).
• A curious mindset and a “can-do” attitude, with a willingness to embrace uncertainty.
• Strong skills and capabilities to act as a consultant.
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
• A demonstrably growing network of relevant customers and industry contacts.
• Understanding of the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.
• Ability to handle complex (technical) problems and be able to deal with multiple parties with conflicting interests.
