The project development team is responsible for the development of large battery projects in the European markets with the aim of bringing them to construction maturity and selling the project rights to investors who rely on the system integration/EPC expertise of SMA Altenso for the construction of the plants. Cooperation with local authorities, grid operators and project development partners are important activities of the team you will be working in.

Your contribution to the big picture

• You qualify and develop large scale battery storage project opportunities in selected markets, from initial assessment to start of construction;
• You identify and liaise with customers, partners, project stakeholders, energy policy makers, utilities and local authorities;
• You drive the progress of both technical and commercial aspects of the project development, in close coordination with internal departments and external project stakeholders;
• You are responsible for structured reporting on the project development pipeline, with regular updates on budget and timeline status;
• You master project financial analysis and modelling to evaluate projects business case;
• You drive the negotiations of commercial and technical aspects of contracts;
• You monitor and assess new target markets in regards to the battery storage business case and respective local project opportunities.

Your skills are needed

• You have a university degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, economics or another techno-economical background;
• You have experience in the development of renewable energy projects and strong understanding of market fundamentals driving investment decisions in the sector;
• You ideally have experience in PV and battery systems;
• You ideally have knowledge about electricity markets in Europe in regards to grid ancillary services and revenue streams relevant for the battery storage projects business case;
• You have strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with executive management;
• You can work in a structured, independent and proactive manner, with a high level of engagement and capacity of teamwork in an entrepreneurial start-up environment;
• You bring a willingness to travel within Europe and internationally.
