Vice-President Energy

The position requires you to invest in building a long term relationship with your clients and prospects in order for ING to become their primary bank. You will have frequent contact with both local and international clients, banks and legal advisors. Additionally you will be responsible to drive transactions, which involves close cooperation with Risk Management, Product Specialists and Relationship Managers both locally and abroad.

  • Execute new business and transactions across Energy sector, with an emphasis on Hydrocarbons and New Energies (incl. hydrogen and carbon capture) – includes deal screening/selection, risk analysis, greenlight preparation, due diligence, documentation negotiation, M&A and capital structuring dialogue and cross-sell discussions;
  • Manage a portfolio of loan transactions as primary contact, which includes close coordination with Risk and Product teams – includes annual credit reviews, preparing loan modification and amendment requests, coordination with operational; and
  • Gain knowledge and contribute to our efforts to support clients in the Energy Transition (with specific emphasis on battery, carbon capture and hydrogen);
  • Act as a role model towards junior colleagues in the team;
  • Participate to both wider Energy sector and local Wholesale Banking Belgium initiatives.

  • A master degree in economics, management, law or comparable;
  • 5-7 years of relevant project/corporate finance experience, ideally in Energy Sector;
  • Strong analytical skills, financial modelling skills is considered a plus;
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English; Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is considered a plus;
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, while being part of a team and demonstrating a clear "one Bank" cross-buy attitude;
  • Willingness to coach junior colleagues incl. ability to give and ask for constructive feedback.

As a Vice-President you will have the opportunity to:

  • Become an Energy Sector expert, including what the Energy Transition and new energy technologies mean for our clients;
  • Contribute to expansion and growth of the Energy business both in Belgium and internationally;
  • Create an international network within both the Energy sector and ING;
  • Develop strong credit and product skills, incl. financial modelling and documentation negotiation.
