If you have advocacy experience of influencing the EU and want to make a difference to the lives of animals and farmers caught up in the current food system then you may be our next Head of CIWF-EU. About us
Compassion in World Farming is the leading campaigning organisation for global farm animal welfare. We campaign to end factory farming worldwide, and are a growing a movement of people who work with us to influence a fair transition towards a more regenerative, climate and nature-friend agricultural future. Our hard hitting campaigns aim to influence governments, and economic stakeholders to make changes to the business as usual approach to how we produce and consume our food, whilst reducing animals in the system, and influencing food producers and retailers to reach the highest standards of animal welfare for farmed animals.
About the role
As the Head of CIWF–EU (Policy/Advocacy), you will play a crucial role in advancing Compassion in World Farming's mission to end factory farming, through impactful policy advocacy at the highest levels of the European Union. Leading a talented team, you'll drive our advocacy efforts within Brussels' political institutions to create real, tangible change.
As part of this pivotal role, you'll craft and execute a comprehensive EU political strategy, working closely with Compassion Country Offices, as well as external stakeholders, to drive progress across critical sectors, such as animal welfare, environment, and public health. You'll cultivate strong partnerships with Brussels-based civil society organisations to elevate our initiatives and amplify our voice on key issues. You’ll forge and build corporate partnerships, by engaging with food business teams and lobbyists, and champion our cause, providing essential guidance on EU public affairs to our Country Offices.
You'll also take the lead in producing compelling EU policy advocacy briefings and recommendations, creating a dynamic hub for collaboration and campaign leadership within Compassion, ensuring that every action we take moves us closer to a world free from factory farming!
About you
To succeed as our Head of CIWF–EU (Policy/Advocacy), you will be passionate about animal welfare and environment, and dedicated to driving positive change through strategic policy advocacy. Your leadership style will need to be inspirational, fostering collaboration and empowering teams to achieve ambitious goals. With a strong background and experience in EU policy/advocacy, you will excel in developing and executing innovative political strategies, that advance our mission within the complex EU landscape.
Your strategic vision will enable you to think critically, and develop forward-thinking approaches to advocate for animal welfare effectively. You will need to possess outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, allowing you to build strong relationships, with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex political environments with ease. You’ll process outstanding advocacy and influencing skills, enabling you to effectively engage decision-makers, and to help shape policy outcomes that align with our organisational mission.
Above all, you will be deeply committed to the values and mission of Compassion in World Farming, embodying a genuine passion for promoting animal welfare and sustainable agriculture.
