THE ROLE

We are looking for a (Junior) Commercial Analyst (CA) for our Trading department in Rotterdam. In short the team is responsible for managing VARO’s exposure related to fossil and renewable products. In addition, the team is very much connected with a wide range of renewable projects that VARO is pursuing and is interacting with several departments within VARO. As a CA you will be responsible for ensuring that our P&L and market exposure are accurate and reported. As well you will be analyzing compliance markets that are relevant for VARO’s positions. You build, maintain and run controls and checks around the trading system on deal entry to make sure no mistakes go unnoticed and old, expired or invoiced contracts are closed. You are checking positions that are taken by traders to make sure that they are flattish and stay within the limits. You will be seating and interacting with Traders and physical operators on a daily basis. You will be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial team which is a strong contributor to the company's profitability. You will report the head of product Trading and will be part of the Trading team.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract entry and management, including the corresponding price exposure impact
• Calculate and issue daily price exposure to the business
• Communicate and follow-up on hedging instructions with the Derivatives Central Execution Desk
• Compile daily profitability reports enabling traders to determine how market moves are impacting their positions
• Maintain performance tools used for reporting to management
• Conduct market analysis and calculate business cases as required by traders, marketers, project-owners and management
• Act as the business’ first point of contact to our ICT and BI departments with regards to the further development of analytical tools and reports
• Maintain data and complex pricing formula’s held on the companies information management system and support relating processes for the VARO’s Commercial Desk
• You will gradually get external commercial responsibilities
• You will be pulled into new renewable project as support

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor or Master’s degree preferably in Business Economics or Accounting & Control program direction or a similar discipline
• Advanced experience with MS Excel and VBA, Python and/or Power BI is necessary
• Any coding/data skills are considered to be an advantage
• Acquainted with hedging tools and techniques
• Affinity with a commercial, economic, analytical role preferred
• Clear understanding of valuation concepts and the basic principles of trading is a pro
• Excellent command of English language, written and verbally. Command of the Dutch language is an advantage
