As the Operations Sustainability Lead Engineer (CT) you will be accountable for the engineering plan/roadmap for the overall transformation that is required to ensure CT plants meet the goals defined in our Sustainability 2030/40 commitments. The role will work closely with key technical and site experts across CT and the wider JM to ensure the available best practice and expertise is used to its greatest effect. The role is a core function of CT’s sustainability team and as such will be responsible for the design, development and successful execution of the operations plan/roadmap as a sub-project of the overall CT Sustainability Programme. The role with collaborate deeply with the Life Cycle Analysis process (LCA) team, product design and other key functions in sustainability such as procurement, ensuring a holistic and joined up approach to sustainable manufacturing.

Your responsibilities:

  • Overall lead for the design, development and execution of the roadmap required to ensure CT Operations meet or exceed the JM2030/40 commitments
  • Prepare, propose/present and maintain CT’s Operations Sustainability Capex budget
  • Ensure all monthly and other period reporting requirements for Operations Sustainability KPI’s are collated on time, in full and fact checked.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts of CT’s projected Operations Sustainability metrics based on medium to long range volume forecasts
  • Create and maintain a costed and scheduled capital project list aligned with the delivery of the Sustainability roadmap. Appropriately scope, communicate and manage risks arising from where this plan differs from current asset renewal plans or other ongoing operations activities, together with the Head of Engineering.
  • Working with site-based engineering and operations teams, ensure Sustainability projects are correctly worked up through all project stages (IDEA to HANDOVER) and are correctly prepared to pass all formal stage-gates

Requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or MSc in Engineering or Sustainability-related field of equivalent experience
  • Experience of successfully programme managing concurrent engineering activities across a complex and multi-geographical area in line with project management principles
  • Experience of delivering solutions to Sustainability challenges in an Operating environment
  • Ability to deliver through influence and working outside of a direct reporting line
  • Ability to lead complex change and simultaneously manage and influence multiple stakeholders, competing demands and complex business, technical or regulatory scenarios.
  • Delivery focused & a self-starter, having a track record of achieving challenging goals within business-critical timescales while working under pressure
