RINA is recruiting for a Senior Biodiversity Consultant/Biodiversity Expert/Senior Ecological Consultant to join our Environmental & Social (E&S) team. This role will be based in the UK, ideally at our Brighton office but other locations can be considered due to our hybrid working model.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of biodiversity consulting experience, gained in the UK or internationally, and will be responsible for providing biodiversity support to the team to ensure the project objectives are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing project tasks related to biodiversity topics under the coordination & supervision of the Project Manager;
  • Preparing of deliverables according to the project development tasks & project schedule;
  • Supporting in the preparation of technical & commercial proposals;
  • Undertaking field surveys for the biodiversity baseline primary data or supervise sub-consultants and prepare survey protocols;
  • Preparing thematic maps & charts (i.e. vegetation maps, habitat maps, faunistic charts, etc.);
  • Coordinating and undertaking biodiversity reviews & assessments as part of environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), feasibility studies, E&S due diligence and appraisals in line with IFC PS6/EBRD PR6 and their guidance notes;
  • Structuring survey and monitoring methods and preparing the biodiversity management & action plan;
  • Ability to develop and review Critical Habitat Assessments in line with IFC PS6 requirements and BEMPs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Natural Sciences/Biology/Ecology or equivalent;
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad to undertake fieldwork;
  • Working knowledge of biodiversity standards and best practices within project financing structure;
  • Fluency in English and ideally knowledge of French and/or Spanish;
  • Good knowledge of GIS graphical and other digital cartographic applications;
  • Excellent understanding of UK or EU and international policy and legislation related to biodiversity and ecology e.g. IFC Performance Standard (PS) 6;
  • 3-5 years’ experience with designing, coordinating and/or leading biodiversity data collection and analysis;
  • Experience in projects funded by IFIs (e.g. IFC, EBRD, World Bank, ADB, AfDB).
